Bungy Jumping

Bungy jumping

Bungy Jumping is a relatively new entrant in Indian adventure sports. For the present the only year-round fixed platform Bungy Jump in north India is at jumping heights http://www.jumpinheights.com/

near Rishikesh, a site set up by a former Army officer with technical expertise from New Zealand.

The 83 metre jump from a cliff over Hall river, a tributary of the Ganga, lies 15 km from Rishi Kesh at Mohanchatti. It provides a big adrenalin high, but at Rs 2750 per person per jump,  the leap does not come cheap. The same site also offers foxing and something known as a giant swing, where the participant swings from side to side as if attached to a giant pendulum.

Foxing is also available at Kikar Lodge http://www.thekikarlodge.com/ near Anandpur Sahib in Punjab.

The jump promoters provide transport from Laxman Jhoola in Rishikesh to the jumping point. It's also possib;le to drive up in your own transport although it can involve a long detour from the ticket office, around the Rishikesh barrage, to get to the site.

Bungy jumps are also organised periodically from cranes in the Delhi-NCR region. However,  these are more in the nature of corporate promotions organised by brands like Mountain Dew rather than a genuine adventure opportunity for thrill seekers.

Those looking for a more sedate version of bungy can try their hand at the multiple bungy trampolines available at malls in most major cities, including at DT Mall & Paras Mall at Chandigarh & Zirakpur and at Sukhna lake, Chandigarh.
